Will Is 'A Top Prospect"

15 November 2017

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell has described the club’s young goalkeeper Will Jaaskelainen as a ‘top prospect’.

The son of the former Bolton Wanderers and West Ham stopper, Jussi, has recently extended his successful loan spell at neighbours Nantwich Town for a further month.

Jaaskelainen helped the Dabbers reach the first round proper of the FA Cup before they eventually lost to Stevenage.

The former Bolton trainee is getting valuable game time at the Weaver Stadium.

Artell said of our young goalkeeper: “Will is a top prospect. He did very well on loan at Loughborough and now he is having a similar impact at Nantwich.

“We spoke to Cookey (David Cooke) in the summer about Will and he said he had signed two goalkeepers, so that was fine.

“They unfortunately got injured, so they came back in and said they would take Will after seeing what he had done at Loughborough. Those goalkeepers are back now, so it shows how well Will has done for them that they want to keep him.

“He has done exceptionally well and it is great for him to be playing competitive men’s football every week.”
