We Want To Set Ourselves Up For Good Second Half

9 November 2017

David Artell has told the club’s official website that although every period is crucial throughout the season, he wants his Crewe Alexandra side to set themselves up for a positive Christmas period by getting a succession of good results under our belts in the build up to the busy festive period.

Our inconsistency has cost us dearly especially after we made such a promising start to the new season. Crewe have a passage of fixtures coming up against Lincoln, Forest Green and Morcambe and Artell believes it is up to his team to prove that they are a good side.

The Crewe boss told us: “Every period is important but we have to make sure that we prove that we are a good team. Everyone in this league has a chance of being a contender because it is much of a muchness but those who are the most consistent are the ones promoted.

“Take John Coleman at Accrington. You pretty much know how they are going to be every week. They might have a slight blip but they bounce back pretty soon because they are consistent. That is why they are right up there because you tend to know what you are going to get from them.

“It is about finding that consistent level and trying not to dip below it. That is what makes good players and that is what we are striving for as a group.

“I remain confident that we will get there because I’ve seen the ability in this squad. “
