David Artell says that Harry Pickering’s natural position will eventually be in midfield but he will continue to learn his trade in full-back positions. Pickering was used in central midfield alongside Perry Ng and his hard working contribution helped us achieve a vital 1-0 win at Morecambe.

The Crewe Alexandra boss told us: “Harry will end up in midfield. That is where we see him playing in the future. He is a good footballer and can play various positions.

“We will continue to use him at full-back in the first-team as well because he is still finding his feet but we will play him midfield whenever we can. He just needs more experience of playing at first team level.

“He has a great engine on him, he gets around the pitch and he can head it.”
