David Artell believes that if his Crewe Alexandra side is right on the metal then we can cause an FA Cup upset against Rotherham United this weekend.

The Alex boss says that if everything can drop into place this weekend then there is no reason why we can’t repeat a top class performance like we did against Notts County. Crewe produced their performance of the season to beat the league leaders 2-0 that night and Artell says the players set the standard.

Artell told the club’s official website: “We are always striving for that consistency and I don’t think it is just one thing. We have had games where we have missed chances. There have been others where we haven’t marked right at a set play. We haven’t quite got there or tracked back properly.

“A decision may have gone against us or we have conceded a really soft goal. One week it can be one thing and then another.

“But when we look like we have got it right and everything drops into place, we are a good side. It is frustrating but that is what happens at League Two level.

“I know what this team is capable of and the fans that came to the Notts County and watched us earlier in the season can see that as well. If we are on our metal we can give anyone a right good go.

He added: “I’ve seen the reaction I wanted to see after the Colchester result. They have trained really well. There has been a real edge to the training and that is what we want.”
