Don't Come Much Tougher At This Stage Than Blackburn

29 November 2017

Crewe Alexandra take on one of League One’s promotion favourites Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup this Sunday and David Artell admits that we have been rather unfortunate with our two cup draws thus far!

Crewe faced Rotherham United in the previous round and were drawn away at Blackburn in round two. Crewe would have faced two of the clubs that were relegated from the second tier last season and if we are to get into the hat for round three, we would have certainly done it the hard way.

Artell said: “I don’t think that anyone would have had two tougher draws than us. I think we have been drawn against two of the teams in League One and unless you have had Wigan or Bradford and then Shrewsbury or Scunthorpe then they don’t come as tough.

“It is a challenge for us but we won’t be going there with any fear. We managed to fight back and beat Rotherham in the previous round and we went close with Oldham in the Checkatrade Trophy, so we feel we can still cause a cup upset.

He added: “We will be doing everything we can to get through. Then who knows by the luck of the draw you might get a big money spinner. That is the aim.”
