George Ray has been given the all-clear to resume light training again but manager David Artell says that the club will be implementing a cautious approach to make sure the centre-half does not suffer any recurrence from his back injury.

The Warrington born defender has not featured since Easter after fracturing his back away at Yeovil Town. He made one aborted return to training after suffering some discomfort but after a prolonged rest he has is now ready to resume light training again.

Artell told crewealex.net: “George has been given the green light to resume light training again. He visited a specialist last Thursday and he says it is fine for him to step up his rehab.

“We will have to be cautious and re-introduce him gently. We don’t want to put too much stress onto his body because he has not been able to do too much for a long time now. He has literally not been able to do anything because the back connects almost everything.

“We will be steady with him but it is a bit more encouraging news with George.”
