Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell has been impressed by the start Lincoln City have made to life back in the EFL. The Imps are currently just outside the play-off places after making a solid start to the new season and Artell is expecting another stern test at Gresty Road this weekend.

Artell says of Danny Cowley’s side: “Lincoln had an outstanding season. They won promotion and enjoyed a great run in the FA Cup.

“They have adjusted well to the league and they are a powerful side. We thought they would surprise a few this season and they are right up there.

“They are a big team and we will have to match their physical element and hopefully our quality will come through.

“It would be nice to get back-to-back home wins after beating Rotherham last week in the FA Cup. If we can repeat that second half performance then we have every chance. If we play like we did in the first half then it could be a long afternoon.”
