David Artell feels that the real pressure is on Rotherham United this weekend as both clubs hope to make it through to round two of the FA Cup.
Artell believes that if his Crewe team can repeat the same sort of form they recently showed against Notts County then we have every chance of causing a Cup upset. League One Rotherham will start as favourites though and Artell is hoping that home advantage can pay off.
Ahead of this weekend’s first round clash, Artell told us: “People say the FA Cup is a great leveller but Rotherham are a league higher and are expected to win. If we were going away to a team in the Conference, the pressure would be on us. That is how it works in the Cup.
“The pressure is on them as a League One club but we have a chance. I would imagine they are the favourites with the bookies. Our home form is okay, it’s not been brilliant and Rotherham have had a steady start to the season after being relegated from the Championship.
“Anything can happen in the FA Cup and that is where the real excitement comes from. I would image we will switch the television on at night and there will be a few shocks. Our aim is to win the game and make sure we get through.”
