David Artell has told the club’s official website that the best way to get Saturday’s disappointing 3-2 loss at the New Lawn out of the system is to recover quickly at Morecambe tomorrow evening. Crewe allowed a 2-1 lead slip in the final eight minutes to suffer another away defeat and the Alex boss is looking for an instant response.
The Crewe boss told crewealex.net: “We have to pick ourselves up and go again. We have a game coming quickly and we want that game. We want that chance to put it right.
“We will prepare as well as we did for Forest Green. I think that we were tactically spot on Saturday and it was only our application that let us down in the end.
“The bottom line was that were not prepared to head the ball out of the box. If you don’t want to head a football then you should look to play badminton, snooker or golf. Heading is part and parcel of football and it is just as important as tackling.
“We have to stand up to that and head the ball out. We had worked on it and worked it and that is what makes it even more frustrating.
He added: “We will get down to it again and try and give them the belief that we can go to Morecambe and win the game.”
