Ainley Hoping For Another Home Win

9 November 2017

The club’s FA Cup hero Callum Ainley is hoping that he can help inspire Crewe Alexandra to another home victory this weekend. Crewe host Lincoln City aiming to avoid a third successful league defeat and get our seasoN back on track.

Ainley’s second goal of the season in the dying minutes against Rotherham United saw Crewe reach the second round for the first time in five seasons where we will now face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

Ainley, who recently turned 20, says the dressing room is solely focussed on picking up points in the league again following a disappointing 3-1 loss at Colchester United in our last outing.

Ainley told crewealex.net: “We know we have been too inconsistent lately. We seem to win one and then lose one and we know we have to improve on that if we want to move up the league table.

“It is all about winning the games and making sure we move away from the bottom places.

“We played Lincoln in pre-season two summers ago and they beat us fairly comfortably. They are still a big team and they will be a typical League Two side that will be well organised and hard to beat.

“We are confident that we have enough ability to create chances though and it is another home game, so hopefully we can use that to get the result we want.”
