Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he will continue to give the club’s emerging young players a chance next season, as long as they continue to be the most consistent performers in the Under-23s and during the training sessions.
Artell finished the season with Perry Ng and Ryan Wintle in the first-team and he gave midfield Ollie Finney his senior debut when he came on as a second half substitute against Barnet on the final day of the season. Finney was rewarded with a new contract this summer after shining for Alex Morris’ Development side in the second half of the season.
Artell told crewealex.net: “The young players know they will get a chance here. They have just got to show that consistency. They have to be the best player for the Under-23s every week. Not once, not twice but every game.
“If they can do that and show that consistency then they will get their chance. The likes of Perry, Ryan Wintle and Ollie Finney did just that and they got their chance. The young ones have got to show they are ready to step up.”
