Lunt expects Cooke to challenge for Boro place

Crewe Alexandra’s Assistant Manager Kenny Lunt has revealed that the Club would love to keep Callum Cooke on loan next season, but expects the England Youth International to return to his parent club Middlesbrough and stake his claim to be involved with their first-team squad. 



The 20-year-old has certainly impressed on loan at the Alexandra Stadium, scoring four goals in 17 appearances as well as providing some key assists.


Lunt is certainly a fan of the attacking midfield player and he said: “We would have loved to have kept Callum because he has been exceptional for us. I am unsure whether we will be able to do that but I am sure we will ask the question.


“Callum has done really well and I am sure he has enjoyed the experience. I’m sure he will go back to Middlesbrough in pre-season and try his best to get closer to their first-team squad.”
