David Artell says released players have to take knock and come again

David Artell says that players who are to be released this summer need to look at themselves in the mirror and ask if ‘they done enough to earn themselves another opportunity?'

The Alex boss revealed earlier today that he has already spoken to some of his squad about their future and he will hold talks with another two or three before he starts his planning in earnest on Monday. Artell has already informed some members of his squad that they will not be offered fresh terms this summer.

Dave told us: “I have been saying for a while that players are self-employed and I really believe that. They shouldn’t look at me as the bad guy because their future is decided by them.

“They have to look in the mirror and say have I done enough to earn that opportunity?’ It is not an easy time for them and it is not easy to do but it is part of the job and has got to be done.”
