Players Kept Ticking Over With Summer Sessions.
Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says it is important that his players continue to come in during the summer to keep themselves ticking over in the fitness stakes. The Alex players started returning for summer fitness and conditioning sessions yesterday and the Crewe boss says it is vital they are in peak condition for when training resumes on a full-time basis at the end of June.
Artell told crewealex.net: “We'll keep them ticking over until the end of June when they are back full time. They need to keep coming in, it's an 11-month season these days, that's what it takes to be a professional athlete.
“They need to stay fit, it's not a case of having six weeks of eating and drinking what you want.
“It helps, keeps them together as a group, and hopefully they will feel the benefit going into the season.”
