Ng: "I Want To Cement My Place"

25 May 2017

Perry Ng is pleased that his future has been sorted ahead of returning to full training at the end of the month but now the versatile defender is focussing on cementing his place in David Artell’s starting XI. Ng was rewarded with a new two-year deal after impressing at centre-half towards the end of the season.

Now the Liverpool-born defender wants to be regarded as a first choice under Artell and the recent departures of Ollie Turton and Jon Guthrie will only increase his chances of doing just that.

After signing his new deal, Ng said: “I am made up with the new contract. I’ve worked hard this year and thankfully I have been rewarded for that.

“I’ve been here since I was six years old, so it is nice to be here for a few more years yet.

“I will work hard over the summer to make sure I’m fit and strong. I want to stay in the team and keep pushing for a start. I got a taste of it last season and I really enjoyed it. Now I want to cement my place in the team and not just wait for someone to be injured or suspended.

“I thought I came in and did well and I want to establish myself in the team.”
