Boss happy with pre-season planning so far.

David Artell believes he has a good mixture of opposition for pre-season but he would still like to add one or two more fixtures in July if he can find the right opponent. The Alex boss would like to test his Crewe side against League One opposition before the start of the campaign, but appreciates that it could be tricky as our pitch will not be ready in time to host the game.

.th July at the Alexandra Stadium, a week before the new EFL League Two season gets underway. The Railwaymen will also be facing neighbours Nantwich, Alsager Town and Macclesfield Town and will be travelling to Barrow on July 18thCrewe will face Stoke City on Saturday 30

The Crewe boss told us: “I wanted to get the right mix of teams in pre-season. I think we have a good mix of different teams at different levels. We will have those games for helping with the fitness levels and we will then face a tough game against Stoke City. It will be like a league game, especially if there is a decent crowd as well.

"We would like one or two more fixtures but I appreciate it is difficult with the work being done on out pitch.”

He added: “It is designed to make sure we are ready, but I think most of the work over pre-season is done out on the training ground."
