Lunt: "Up To Some To Prove Us Wrong"

3 May 2017

Assistant manager on making tough decisions this summer.

Kenny Lunt says it will be tough to let some of the current squad leave at the end of the season, but the assistant manager feels it may be best for them to enjoy a fresh start. Lunt will form part of the discussion party to help decide who will be offered a new contract and who will be allowed to leave this summer.

Having been a player himself, Lunt appreciates that it is the most difficult part of the job but he believes that decisions will be based on what is best for the Football Club and the players.

Lunt admitted: “There will be players here who we will let go in the summer. They will take a knock back but it will be decision that is the best for everyone.

“We hope that they can go away and prove us wrong because we want all the players who have been here, some of them for a long time, to have a successful career in the game.

He added: “It is tough to tell them because you do build up a relationship with them and may have known them since they were young kids. It is part of the job though but there comes a time when players have to move on. “
