Last Ditch Talks With Turton

23 May 2017

Boss to hold 11th hour talks with right-back over future.

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell will hold talks with Ollie Turton over this future after the right-back came in to hold a conversation. Turton has been offered a new deal following another consistent season, but Artell says he will need a decision quickly as he plans his squad for next season.

Artell tried in vain to get hold of Turton yesterday and has granted him the chance to discuss his future for one last time today.

Turton, 24, made 50 appearances last season and is a firm favourite with the Crewe Alexandra fans after coming through the club’s Academy. He has now amassed 190 appearances for the club, playing in various roles. He has also scored four goals at senior level.

Artell believes that Turton is undecided over this future but says he was encouraged to see him attend this morning’s conditioning session.

Artell told crewealex.net: “Ollie is in the building and that is a positive. I tried to speak to him yesterday evening but couldn’t get hold of him, so I’ve agreed to have a chat this morning.

“I’m not sure what he is thinking or what he wants to do. Genuinely I don’t know and I’m sure Ollie knows either. I hope he stays.

“We will sit down and have a honest and open chat about things. He is a sensible lad and want him to stay. The offer is still on the table but the decision time will be short. I need to know what we are doing and where we are going.

“We have given him enough time to decide, so he knows that he will have to make a decision almost immediately.”
