Boss says Ben was unlucky not to get a new deal.
David Artell has admitted that Ben Nugent was a ‘little unfortunate’ not to be rewarded with a new contract this summer. Nugent made 24 appearances for the club this season before his campaign was ended through injury against Notts County on 14th April.
The centre-half’s final touch for the club helped create the equalising goal for James Jones in a 2-2 draw. Nugent landed awkwardly after beating Shola Ameobi in the air, suffering a knee injury in the process.
Artell told the club’s official web-site: “Ben did fine and he was a bit unfortunate not to get a new contract. I just felt that we could get better.
He added: “We will look after him and make sure we give him all the help he needs to get back fit. He will be fine. He will get another deal somewhere in football. He is a good player and a good lad and we wish him well.”
