Cooke: "Experience Has Been Fantastic"

12 May 2017

Callum Cooke says club will always hold a special place in his heart.

England Youth International Callum Cooke says that the experience of coming out on loan to Crewe Alexandra will only assist his career. Cooke returned to his parent club Middlesbrough after helping the Railwaymen secure their place in the EFL and the popular attacking midfielder states that Crewe will always have a special place in his heart.

Cooke scored four goals in 18 appearances for the Alex and many fans have made it known that he want him to return to Gresty Road on loan if at all possible next season.

The 20-year-old told the club’s official web-site: “Crewe really wanted me in January and I wanted to come here and help the team.

“Everyone was great with me. The management, the staff in the office, my team-mates and the fans were great with me. I really enjoyed it and the club will always have a special place in my heart. I would never say never in football. We will see what happens.

“I have enjoyed the experience. There have been some good and bad days. My first game was at Exeter and I thought what have I come into! The following week we beat Grimsby 5-0 and I managed to score my first goal and I have some great memories.

Callum added: “I definitely want more of the same. I don’t know what will happen at Middlesbrough at the moment, but I don’t want to go back to playing U-23 football again. If that happens then I would want to go back out on loan somewhere.”
