24 May 2017

Jordan to become a Crewe Alexandra player from 1st July after agreeing terms.

Forward Jordan Bowery will join Crewe Alexandra on a permanent basis from July 1stafter he resolved his future with relegated Leyton Orient. Bowery, 25, will join David Artell’s squad for pre-season training after agreeing personal terms on a two-year deal with the Railwaymen.

Bowery joined Crewe on loan during the January transfer window after Ryan Lowe left for a playing/coaching role at Bury.

The former Aston Villa and Chesterfield forward helped transform our forward line in the second half of the season, scoring two goals himself against Crawley and Carlisle United, but crucially helping Chris Dagnall to rediscover his goalscoring form.Dagnall went on to win the club’s Player-of-the-Season award after scoring 12 goals in second half of the campaign. Bowery certainly played his role as the ultimate team player, as Crewe survived the drop into the Conference by collating 55 points.

Artell said prior to his first summer signing: “We have been making significant progress with Jordan and his agent and he would be a great signing for us.

He added: “I think he improves us and he is someone we wanted here. It is always try and do one or two early because you can then concentrate on other areas. It means you are not chasing your tail a bit and needing to get four or five in at the end.”
