Bingham Wishes To Return South

Artell reveals that midfielder declared he wanted to move closer to home

David Artell has revealed that midfielder Billy Bingham wishes for a move closer to his London home and that is why he was not offered a new deal this summer. Bingham was honest enough to admit to the manager that he would look for a move south when the two held of them held talks towards the end of the season.

The versatile Bingham ended the season by operating as an emergency centre-back in the wake of an injury crisis at the back.

Artell told crewealex.net: “I spoke to Billy and he informed me that he wanted to move closer to home. He missed being close to his family and friends and I respected his honesty.

“Billy has done well for me since I took over. I think he has played more games in the last six months than at any other time during his time here. He avoided those niggling injuries that have blighted his first season.

“He was terrific for us and he did well at centre-half as well when we needed him. He goes with our best wishes because he is a good lad.”
