Alex boss targets new recruits after releasing six this summer.
After trimming his squad numbers down following the end of the season, David Artell has told the club’s official web-site that he is now focussed on improving his team with better players.
The Alex boss performed admirably in the January transfer window, recruiting Jordan Bowery and Callum Cooke on loan and he will be aiming for players of a high calibre to improve the Railwaymen going into the new season.
Dave told crewealex.net: “They've got to be good players, better than what we've got. We want to play decent football.
“We've been making lists for at least two months so we can whittle them down, the scouts have been watching them and we have done some digging.
“We started with about 5,000, then we got it down to about 50 in each position, we highlighted 15 and now it's down to four or five.
He added: “We are already speaking to one or two, it'll be a long summer but I think we are ahead of the curve and hopefully we'll get one or two answers back from our own players and get in a couple we have targeted already.”
