Crewe goalkeeper goes under the knife to repair finger damage.

David Artell moved quickly to sign the former Fulham youngster Andy Dawber to provide the cover and competition to number one Ben Garratt.

Crewe Alexandra's reserve goalkeeper is planned to undergo an operation on his fractured finger later today. The popular Welshman suffered the injury in the club's Cheshire Senior semi-final win over Hyde United. He bravely played on to help us to a 4-0 win but the injury and recovery time is likely to keep him out for between 6-8 weeks.
