Captain forced off with groin injury

Ray had some severe discomfort in his groin area but it is hoped that the injury is not too serious, but of course, he will face a race against time to be in contention for our home game against Colchester this weekend. 

Crewe Alexandra will assess the injury sustained by club captain George Ray that occurred just 20 minutes into our impressive 3-0 win over Crawley. The centre-half was forced off after appearing to aggravate a groin muscle but the club are hopeful that it is a strain rather than a tear. Youngster Perry NG grabbed his opportunity with a mature display alongside Ben Nugent and the captain's armband was passed to the experienced full-back Ollie Turton.
