Daggers Has Been Inspirational

22 March 2017

Boss delighted for Chris Dagnall as goals start to return

David Artell says that Chris Dagnall’s real desire to get into the penalty area has been the major factor in seeing his resurgence in front of goal. Dagnall has scored seven goals in his last six games and it would have possibly been even more but for his three-match suspension following his red card against Stevenage for retaliation.

Artell explained to the club’s official web-site: “Daggers works his socks off and it inspires his team-mates around him. I spoke to him when I took over and asked him where he scored his goals and he told me in the box, so I just said get in the box then. He was spending too much time out of the box.

“That is what he has done and he has shown what a great finishers of chances he is. I said to him, you get in the box and if we don’t get the ball to him then that’s my problem. He has been absolutely terrific for us and I’m sure that if we keep on getting balls into the box then he will continue to score goals.”
