Artell aims to blend his dressing room for success going forward.

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he is after a good blend of characters within his dressing room.

The Crewe Alexandra boss is already planning ahead when it comes to improving the club’s recruitment drive this summer and he has already held meetings with the club’s scouting network.

Artell explained to the club’s official web-site: “I am big on getting the right characters into the club. It comes in many guises and I don’t want all the same characters. If you do that then you get carnage in one way or another.

“You have to get the blend right in the dressing room. You don’t want too many shrinking violets nor do you want too many of the hairdryer type. You have to get the right mix.

“Our young players have a good mentality when it comes to wanting to learn. They analyse things and want to improve but we need to complement that with characters from outside, who understand what it takes to win games. When you get that mixture right and you can instill that then you become successful together.”
