Artell says he will continue to try and win games by playing attractive football.
Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says that he will continue to try and win football matches by playing in an attractive manner. Artell has turned things around and has managed to pull the Railwaymen clear of the bottom two but he wants his players to target maximum points from the remaining seven games of the season.
The Alex face Cambridge United this weekend aiming to extend their improved form to five wins out of the last six games.
Artell told crewealex.net: “I have always believed that the best way to win games is to play football. I think we have turned the corner and have played well over the last few weeks but it is only two months. The aim is to be as consistent as he have been over the next few months and then over 46 games next season.
“I think we are definitely defending better and that is credit to the whole team, not just the back four. We have had to defend our box well at times, it was certainly the case at Carlisle when they started on the front foot and ended the games with six forwards on the pitch.
“Our skilful players then won us the game. That is great game management. I am not about holding the ball in the corner for the last five minutes. I think good management is to get on the ball and keep playing football.
“What we need to learn is how to win football matches. We are beginning to get that in our locker.”
