Ben Nugent tells Crewe Alex PlayerHD about making the most of his opportunity.
Ben Nugent believes that the appointment of David Artell as the club’s new manager in January ‘got the club going again'.
On succeeding Steve Davis following a 3-0 defeat at Mansfield, Artell offered a fresh chance to his entire squad and Nugent has taken his chance with both hands. Nugent has forced his way into the starting XI and declared yesterday that he would like to extend his stay at Crewe beyond his current contract.
Nugent told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “We are close to getting over the line but we want to finish the season as strongly as we can. We want to have that winning mentality and take it into next summer.
“The new gaffer has come in and has got us going again. It didn’t happen immediately because we were a bit low on confidence but he has put his ideas across and we have taken that on board.
“We are all pulling in the same direction and the training is sharp. We all want to be involved and there are good characters here. In my opinion there has been a real positive swing.
“It has been frustrating season for me until January, but the new gaffer came in and gave everyone a chance. Everyone knows their jobs and their roles and I think we are beginning to turn the corner.”
