Artell Praise For Match Winner Dagnall

David Artell praised Saturday’s match winner Chris Dagnall following his two goals against Colchester United and admitted afterwards that he hated playing against him as well! Dagnall scored a goal in each half on Saturday to take his own personal tally for the season to 12 goals. He has simply continued where he left off before his three-match suspension and his recent run in front of goal has seen him score seven goals in his last six games.

The 30-year-old has clicked at just the right moment to push Crewe away from the danger zone and despite his red card against Stevenage for retaliation the boss has been delighted with him.

David Artell told the club’s official web-site: “Dags is going really well and I am delighted for him because he works so hard for the team. It is nice to see him getting his rewards.

“His first goal was not easy. George (Cooper) whipped it over low and Dagnall is in there and it gave us a great start because there wasn’t that much in the game at that point.

“He is a real goalscorer. I’ve played against him myself and I didn’t like playing against him! He is the Michael Owen of League Two. Owen didn’t score from 30-yards too many times. He got the majority of his goals in the box from the 0-8 yards range and that is what Daggers is good at. He gets in there and he gets his goals. He is a box player and a very good finisher.”
