Crewe boss says he is only focussed on getting as many points as possible.
David Artell has told the club’s official web-site that he takes no notice of the League Two table. A 2-0 win over Colchester United at the weekend placed Crewe Alexandra 13 points clear of the drop zone, but the Alex boss says he is only focussing on performances from the remaining 8 games. His target remains 24 points, as he aims to finish the season strongly.
Artell told crewealex.net: “I was never worried. Of course, I hear about how other teams have got on and I know how many points we have. I don’t know where we are in the league table, honestly I don’t know.
“I don’t look at the table because it only adds pressure. I haven’t looked at it but I know what the points’ gap is now because I got told after the game.
“All I knew was that I had enough in our dressing room not to worry. I am mindful of what we need and it is about us. I just want them to keep on performing like they have been doing, 45 minutes aside against Hartlepool and Newport.
“There are 24 points left. That’s the challenge because I want us to go out there and try to win every game. I don’t want to target 52 points or whatever because it means we have lost games and dropped points, I don’t want to think like that.”
