Artell: "Discussions Continue With Players"

24 March 2017

Garratt has signed and Artell will speak with others

David Artell says that talks will continue to discuss the contract situation with members of his staff before he decides who we wishes to make offers to. Artell was pleased that his number one goalkeeper Ben Garratt has agreed to extend his stay at the club until at least 2019 and he is still in talks with Jon Guthrie over him following suit.

A one-year extension has already been triggered by the number of games Zoumana Bakayogo has played this season and Artell will be talking to others as he plans to rebuild his squad for next season.

David told “I talk to the players, regardless if they in and out of contract. I think I am a social, affable guy. We talk about most things and sometimes their situation will be top of conservation and sometimes it won’t be.

“I will continue to discuss things with the staff here and then decide. They have eight games left to impress. They have time.

He added: “We have got to decide who is hungry. That is what we are after going forward.”
