Artell Disappointed By League Position

17 March 2017

Boss frustrated with the way the season has gone with Crewe still not safe

David Artell has stated to the club’s official web-site that he is disappointed that this season has not gone according to plan. Crewe are still not safe in the EFL and the Alex boss wants to achieve a comfortable points tally as soon as possible, so he can fully focus on his re-building plans.

Crewe do have a ten-point margin over the bottom two clubs, but Artell is angered that we are in this situation in the first place.

Artell told the club’s official web-site: "People are saying to me that we have a ten-point gap over the bottom two and what a great margin it is to have. It is but we shouldn’t be in this position.

“That wasn’t the aim in August and we are all disappointed with the way it has gone. A club like Crewe Alexandra shouldn’t be looking over their shoulder at the bottom places. It shouldn’t be and we have to do a lot better.

“That will only come with hard work and it will.

He added: “We have 9 games left and points to play for. I want to win as many games as we can between now and the end of the season. There will be no dead rubbers here, players are playing for their futures, so if they think they can throw the towel onto the beach then they are mistaken. We have a lot of hard work to get through. We are not even safe yet.”
