place on 48 points in the League Two table.
thThe Alex boss was delighted as a fourth win out of five took Crewe into 16
Following the 2-0 win at Carlisle, Artell said: “We stood up to Carlisle’s physical approach early on. They came at us in the first 15/20 minutes and we gave them the initiative because we wanted to play a bit of football and didn’t keep the ball as well as we wanted.
“We settled into the game after that and we defended really well. I must say that the centre-halves headed most of the crosses going into our box and so did Zooms and Ollie. Billy also did well in front of them.
“It is four clean-sheets out of five for us and to go away from home and keep three clean-sheets is terrific.
“We went to Portsmouth and played them off the park and that doesn’t half give you a lift. We went into that game on the back of a 4-0 defeat at Hartlepool, so it could have gone a different way but the lads have done superbly well.”
