New summer signing Michael Raynes says that discussing the future with David Artell was one of the main reasons on why he turned down Carlisle United’s offer of a new contract to sign for Crewe Alexandra.
Raynes 29, was joined fellow captures Jordan Bowery and Chris Porter in already agreeing to sign for Crewe Alexandra and the centre-half is keen to have a successful career during his time at Gresty Road.
Michael told crewealex.net: “I met the manager and he really sold the club to me. I had a really good chat with him and there was no question in my mind to sign for Crewe. I know that it is the right place for me.
“I like what the manager is trying to do and his plans for the future. He is a young manager and he wants to do well for the club. I’ve played against him a few times in my career and I know how committed he is. I take it a compliment that he compared himself to me, because he had one hell of a career.
“I am excited to be here and I couldn’t be happier with this move.”
