George Ray Signs New Crewe Contract

29 June 2017

Crewe Alexandra defender George Ray has signed a new two-year-contract running until June 2019.

The 23-year-old's previous deal was due to expire on July 1 this summer, but he's confirmed his stay at Gresty Road by penning fresh terms.

Ray had fallen out of favour under previous manager Steve Davis during the first half of last season, but with new boss Dave Artell being installed in January, the tall defender found a new lease of life for the second half of the season.

Also being handed the captain's armband on a number of occassions, he made his 100th Crewe appearance in the final game of 2016/17 against Barnet having come through the academy system as a youngster.

Everyone at Crewe Alexandra would like to congratulate George on his new contract.
