Ben Garratt wants to establish himself as a leader inside the Crewe Alexandra dressing room. The Crewe number one, 23, has now made over 150 appearances for the club and he believes that as part of his development, he has to help the younger ones coming through into the first team.

Ben told the club’s official website: “The next stage for me is to not only influence the team out on the pitch, but also in the dressing room as well. That is what I will be looking to do.

“I’m now one of the most experienced players in the squad and my job is to help the younger ones and have a positive influence on them.

“I feel like I’ve got an influence now over the squad, and I’ve got the respect, and I feel like I can help them as much as I was helped when I was their age.”
