Guthrie agrees to join EFL League One side Walsall as of July 1st.
Jon Guthrie has agreed to join Walsall from 1st July after successfully passing a medical and agreeing personal terms with the Midlands club today.
Guthrie ended his five-year spell with Crewe Alexandra after rejecting our offer of a new deal and the 24-year-old is stepping back up to EFL League One with the Saddlers.
Having been spotted playing for his local club Pewsey Vale, Guthrie went on to make 137 appearances for Crewe. He was arguably one of our most consistent performers over the last two seasons and his reliability at both centre-half and left-back resulted in him making 38 appearances last season.
Jon’s only goal came in a 2-1 home defeat to Barnsley in February 2016.
Everyone at Crewe wishes Jon all the best and thank him for his contribution over the last five years.
