Ben Garratt has acclaimed the club’s double Player of the Season, Chris Dagnall, after his run of form in the second half of the season saw him net 12 goals under new boss David Artell.
The Crewe number one goalkeeper says that everyone did their job to make sure the Railwaymen pulled away from the danger zone but stresses the importance of having an in-form goalscorer.
Garratt told the club’s official web-site: “It was a frustrating season but we managed to get there with a few games to spare. We performed well and did the job but Daggers set the example.
“His finishing is top drawer. I get to see it in training every day and he is not only a goalscorer because I think everyone sees what he brings to the team. He leads by example and we are lucky to have him.
“We always know that if we can keep things tight at the back then we have chance of winning games because of players like Daggers. He has been absolutely brilliant for us.”
