Kenny Lunt admits that the club’s management team have deliberately targetted experienced players in the early stages of our recruitment drive.
The club’s assistant manager has told the club’s official web-site that manager David Artell wanted to raise the average age of the squad, but will still continue to project the philosophy of the club by giving young players their platform to perform.
Lunt told crewealex.net: “We wanted to bring some more experienced players into the club and we have managed to do that. We know they will help the group.
“They have been there and done it and we hope that our younger players will learn from them. The average age of our squad was around 22/23 last season and we wanted to add to that.
“We know that they will help us with game management. At times last season, against the likes of Newport County etc, we struggled to manage the game. We struggled to work out when we needed to defend as a team and attack as a team. We want different ways of play and change it depending on the situation in the game. Getting players in, especially with Jordan and Chris gives us different options.”
