Kenny Lunt says that he wants severe competition for places to increase performance levels. The club’s assistant manager says it is vital that players are placed under pressure for their places and he wants that competition throughout the Crewe Alexandra team going in to next season.
Lunt has been delighted with the club’s three new recruits and says that everyone has to compete for a place as we aim to improve on last season’s disappointing league position.
Lunt told crewealex.net: “The competition is good and we want it to be even better. No-one is guaranteed a place and that is the way we want it to be. We want them to fight for places and there to be no certainties.
“Those who are in form and playing well will get the shirt. If they have the shirt, then they have to play well to hold onto it. They have to do well every day, every week, every game.
“If they get in the team then they have to work hard every time and push themselves because if they don’t then we want those out of the team to show that they can take their place.”
