Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he is diligently plugging away in his attempts to add to his three summer signings. Artell has already signed strikers Chris Porter and Jordan Bowery and defender Michael Raynes but he aims to add at least another three to his squad.
Artell is targeting a genuine push for promotion and is after fresh reinforcements in midfield and his back-line. One of the names mentioned has been the former Manchester United and England defender Wes Brown, who is a free agent after being released by Blackburn Rovers at the end of the season.
Artell told the club’s official web-site: “I’m in the hot-seat now and I know that recruitment is difficult. It is down to me personally and my staff have been working hard to bring the best we can in.
“I will look in the mirror and give it my best shot. All the staff and players do here. We need some midfielders and defenders definitely. Myself and the staff will plug away at it.
“Wes is one we have discussed. He is 37 now, but has great experience and knowhow. It may outweigh his age.
The boss added: “League Two is a lot different from the Championship and the Premiership, so we’ll have to wait and see. In the end, I will judge the decision on what I feel is best for the Football Club.”
