Wintle: "Pre-Season Has Gone Well"

25 July 2017

Ryan Wintle says that the club’s final pre-season games will be perfect opposition before we kick off the new season against Mansfield Town on 5th August.

The Crewe midfielder was arguably our top performer against Bury on Saturday and now the former Alsager man is hoping to really establish himself in David Artell’s starting XI.

Wintle is hoping to be involved against Macclesfield Town this evening and once again impress in his midfield holding role.

Ahead of the trip to Moss Rose, Ryan said: “We still have some good opposition coming up with Macclesfield and then Stoke on Sunday. There has been a good mix in pre-season and it has been good for the fitness.

“We have played reasonably well and it would be nice to get a win and keep a clean-sheet. That is what the manager wants more of this season. We shed a few goals last season and if we can stop that then we know we have some good talent going forward. We are confident we will score goals.

“Hopefully we can remain injury free and keep those fitness levels up, so we are ready for Mansfield on the opening day of the season.”
