Update On George Ray

21 July 2017

George Ray working hard as he waits for his fracture to heal in his back.

Defender George Ray is doing everything in his power to make himself available for the start of the new season. Ray is still recovering from the fracture in his back that he obtained from our Easter trip to Yeovil Town.

Ray has been working hard over the summer to put himself back in contention but it remains unlikely that he will feature in any of the club’s remaining pre-season fixtures. Crewe Alexandra kick off the new season against Mansfield Town on 5th August at Gresty Road.

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell told the club’s official web-site: “George has been on a treadmill that allows him to run at 70% of his body weight and that takes the weight off his back. We will be on it again twice again next week.

“It allows him to keep fit without risking any injury. When he is given the all-clear from the scan, it will allow him to come back into training. We are just waiting for it to fully heal and are playing it by it ear at the moment.

“George is working hard and is at fit as he can be but we won’t be taking any chances.”
