Crewe Under-23s Defeated In Wales

27 July 2017

Crewe Alexandra’s Under-23’s allowed a 2-1 half-time to slip in the second half at Bala Town. The Alex were ahead at the break thanks to goals from Regan Griffiths and Owen Dale but the Welsh side showed great spirit to fight back and claim the pre-season win thanks to goals from Davies, Venables and an unfortunate own goal from Crewe defender Ross Woodcock.

Crewe had been two goals just after the half an hour mark with Griffiths finishing a chance from close range in the 16th and Dale firing a second via the post in the 32nd minute.

Davies pulled one back before the break to change the complexion of the contest and although Crewe had further chances through Dale we couldn’t avoid defeat to the Lakesiders.

The Alex had goalkeeper Dave Richards to thank for keeping us in the game as the home side really improved as an attacking force in the second period.

It was an useful run-out for the Crewe youngsters, who are set to face Quorn FC on Monday.
