There will be fundraising pre-season friendly between Queens Park Rangers and Bournemouth on Saturday in aid of the former great Stan Bowles.
The former Crewe Alexandra favourite, 68, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s four years ago and he is struggling to raise money for his care.
Bowles made 51 league appearances for the Railwaymen during the 1970-71 season, scoring 18 goals before Carlisle United paid £12,000 to take him to Cumbria.
It was at QPR where Bowles excelled. He made over 300 appearances for the Hoops and nearly inspired them to the First Division title in 1975/76 under Dave Sexton. He has also capped five times by England and that would have been more but for his maverick approach to football.
Tickets are on sale now priced £12 adults/seniors and £6 for under-18s. If you cannot make the game at Loftus Road, then you can pay a virtual ticket.
