Nolan: "No Reason Why This Club Cannot Be Promoted"

4 July 2017

Having been a part of Blackpool's promotion success last season, Irishman Nolan wants a repeat at his new club.

The club’s latest signing, Eddie Nolan, says that it was a no-brainer to sign for Crewe Alexandra following his release from Blackpool.

The versatile Irishman, 28, signed a 12-month contract with the option of another year depending on his appearance record and the former Eire International says he will do everything in his power to push for a regular first-team place.

Nolan was used sparingly during Blackpool’s promotion season, making 10 appearances in all competitions, but he was fit and was always available for selection.

Nolan is looking forward to his fresh start at Gresty Road. He told iFollow: “I'm really looking forward to the season ahead.

“I met the gaffer and he showed me around the facilities. I was very impressed and it was a no-brainer to sign.

“I just felt very impressed and there's a lot to look forward to.

“It was frustrating not to have played more. We got promoted but I'd have liked to have played more. I aim to do that this season. I want to get promoted again and I don't see why a club like Crewe can't get promoted.

“I was speaking to Raynesy (Michael Raynes) and we were saying there are a lot of young lads who might need a bit of experience along the way.

“We want to help the team and help them along in their careers.

“It's important to get a good start so you're not playing catch-up, so to have the first four games at home we'll be looking to get as many points as we can.

Eddie added: “I've played all across the back four, I don't really have a favourite position I just want to play as much as I can.”
