Garratt: "Pre-Season Plans Are Going Well"

19 July 2017

Ben Garratt kept his first clean-sheet of the pre-season in the goalless draw against AFC Barrow last night and the Crewe number one says that the work has been intense under David Artell and his staff this summer.

Garratt faces competition for his place from David Richards, who will get another chance to impress at Alsager Town this evening.

The Crewe number one told crewealex.net: “I'm feeling good, we are all being put through our paces and it's been hard work, but that's the way it should be and we're enjoying it.

“The pre-season has been very high intensity and hopefully we'll get the benefits from that.

“Fred (Barber) is always coming up with new sessions and ideas, it's important to keep things fresh and interesting.

“Everything is gearing up to that first game, to make sure everyone is 100% ready.

“I have to fight for my place the same as anyone else has, but it's important to get those bonds and relationships and I feel I already have done with the new lads so I think we will be a tight group.

“They've settled in very well and they're looking good on the training pitch so we're pleased so far. It was definitely what we needed both on and off the pitch, and we've seen it already around the place and on the training pitch, they've made a big difference already and everyone will benefit from that.

Ben added: “It was important we brought some in and they are all great lads and we've all been impressed.”
