Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell has told the club’s official web-site that he and his staff will continue to work on the players’ mind-set ahead of the new season. The Crewe boss says that pushing the body will only help with the mental strength and character of his players as they prepare for a gruelling League Two campaign.
Artell told crewealex.net: “One of the big areas that we are looking at is the psychological side of things. The body is very resilient but it has boundaries. The mind doesn’t and I am a firm believer that 80% of what is achievable, is in the mind.
“You have to push yourself and by pushing the body to its limit, only helps with the mental state. It shows where you can get to. It tests them and makes them stronger.
“How do you become tough to beat? How do you become resilient? Well we design training to help with that. We want them to push themselves and that helps with their mind-set. We try and give them the tools so they can cope with all scenarios. “
