Crewe boss says the players are working hard to be physcially ready for the new season.

David Artell says he will continue to put his squad through their paces as he prepares them for the new season. The Crewe Alexandra players have been undertaking double sessions during their first days back into full training as Artell proclaims that he will get his players ‘as fit as they can be.’

Artell told the club’s official web-site:  “It is the first few days back but I’m sure the players are getting plenty out of it. I’m sure it is hard work but enjoyable too. There has to be a physical side to it but we have also had the footballs out.

“We try to make the training specific to football and make sure that the players are ready for the entire season, not just the start or up until Easter. We want to last the distance and not fade away, so it is important we pace ourselves.

“I can’t say we will be the fittest team in the league because I cannot control what 23 other clubs are doing but I know that we will be as fit as we can be. That is what I can control and the aim is to give ourselves the best chance.”
